Michael C. Watson Jr. was born December 24, 1980 to Michael & Therssa Watson in Kansas City, Missouri. Being the youngest of 3 siblings he always had a desire to standout from his older brothers and sister. After the divorce of his parents, Michael's mother began the daunted task of raising two African-American males as a single parent. As a deterrent to the negative inner-city activities prevalent in his community, Michael's mother sought to expose him to different alternatives. At the age of four, Michael was first introduced to the game of baseball in which he immediately took an interest. The teamwork, competitive nature, and love for the sport, only fueled his desire to try others. Soon thereafter he began playing football and basketball. Understanding the impact that sports had on Michael, his mother kept him involved as much as possible. Often sacrificing her time and money to support her youngest son. All the while using sports as leverage for Michael to maintain good grades in school.
In college on a full athletic scholarship, Michael was fortunate enough to meet his current mentor and friend, Pastor John L. Brooks of Macedonia Baptist Church in Kansas City, Missouri. Pastor Brooks befriended Michael and challenged him to pursue a more intimate relationship with Christ. Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit and teaching of Pastor Brooks, Michael truly accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior in September of 2003. God is faithful and blessed Michael to excell at the game of basketball. Thus affording him the opportunity to play NCAA Div. 1 basketball, earn a B.A. from UMKC, and go on to play Professionally in the NBA, Europe and Puerto Rico.
In September of 2006 while in Istanbul, Turkey, Michael encountered God like never before and faced the biggest obstacle in his life. He was led to walk away from his contract and to further develop in his walk with the Lord. Christ had something else in store for his life. While fellowshipping at a local Christian open-mic event, Michael met the people who would later make up Kingdom City Records. Led by the Holy Spirit, his desire to see lives changed for the cause of Christ, and his love for music, he decided to be a steward with what God had given him. So In the summer of 2007, Michael formed Kingdom City Records behind the motto of Missionary Minded MuziKC to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Wendell Deacon Cole stepped onto the stage initially in 2003 as a Christian spoken word artist. Known for his fast paced and high energy poetic style, Deacon easily transitioned into the Christian Hip-Hop genre. Born in 1985, Deacon started writing as an escape and outlet from growing up in a home that was fused with his mothers alcoholism and barren of a father figure. Being an only child until the age of 12, Deacon resorted to gangs in order to attain a sense of brotherhood but by the grace of God was brought out through the diligent love of Christ exhibited through his pastor.
In 2006 Deacon brought his poetically laced rhyming style and lyricism to Christian hip hop along with a strong desire for Gods holiness and a return to biblical Christianity. His reputation has been established upon his unwillingness to submit to the status quo that is seen in Christianity today and his active desire to see the lost and those that are wavering in the faith to come to an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ through the truth of the Gospel.
Trenton Tre Ford stepped into the spotlight in late 2006. Always know as a jovial and energetic persona, Tre surprised many with a bold representation of Christianity lyrically. Born in 1985, he matured under the mentorship of his pastor but lacked a personal relationship with Christ until 2001. Struggling himself with social acceptance, Tre often times found himself at odds with God due to the wanting of acceptance from loved ones despite their lifestyles.
Upon his rededication, Tre was inspired to do more than minister on stage but focus more on the ministry off of the stage. Therefore, Tre continually advocates a lifestyle of holiness with uncompromised faith rather than the modern day lip service that is rampantly seen in believers lives and contemporary church services. By upholding the truth of the Gospel, Tre has quickly become a beacon of Gods hope in todays spiritually dismal society
